The porch is the first place that people see when they visit you. Halloween brings with an opportunity for you to show trick or treaters that you are really in the festive spirit. The porch is a blank canvas, which you can fill with all the craziness that Halloween brings. In this article, we look at simple ideas that you can implement and leave a lasting impression.
An idea you use is by having a scarecrow. You can make one with materials from your house. All you need is a broom handle, old sheets, and old clothes. Bundle the sheets in a lump to form the head and fix it on the broom handle. Do the same for the other body parts and dress it to complete the look.
Another way to decorate your porch is by having floating ghosts. If you have some trees in your yard, a few balloons or balls wrapped in a sheet will do the trick. Cut the sheets into ghostly figures, give them some form with the balls, and hang them on the trees. The wind will do the rest for you. White sheets are best to achieve the desired effect.
You can also use skeleton footprints as guides to your door. You can paint these or by the stickers from your local store. Jack-o-lanterns are also an excellent way to show your neighbors that you are in the spirit. Rather than carving them in the usual faces, experiment with other eerie images. Arrange these along your footpath for that extra flair.
You can turn beachballs into large eyes and place them across your porch. Wrap the balls up in white paper and paint the eyes.
